Oxbow Announces 2011 Academic Scholarship Winners

Murdock, NE, May 27, 2011 -- Oxbow Animal Health, a leader in the innovative care and nutrition of small and exotic animals worldwide, has announced the recipients of its 2011 Academic Scholarships. This year, Oxbow will award $3,500 to five outstanding individuals pursuing education in the exotic and companion animal veterinary fields.

Oxbow scholarship winners are chosen for interest and involvement in the field of exotic animal health, excellence in the areas of academic achievement, and clarity and eloquence in expression of future career goals and interests.

This year’s scholarship winners are:

• Levi McPhillips (Columbus, Nebraska) Scotus Central Catholic High School (Nebraska High School Scholarship)
• Courtney P. Korff (Vacaville, CA) University of California at Davis (Undergraduate Academic Scholarship)
• Mandi Jo Cherpes (Caledonia, MI) Penn Foster College (Veterinary Technology Academic Scholarship)
• Mary Pepper (Williston Park, NY) Nasua Community College (Veterinary Technology Academic Scholarship)
• Jana E. Mazor-Thomas (South Grafton, MA) Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine (Veterinary Medicine Academic Scholarship)

Jana Mazor-Thomas, recipient of this year’s Veterinary Medicine Academic Scholarship, expressed her gratitude for the scholarship.  “I would like to thank the staff of Oxbow and the scholarship committee for this honor.  I have been lucky enough to work with some wonderful mentors in the field of exotic animal and wildlife medicine already, and I hope to follow their examples through the rest of my education and eventual career,” said Mazor-Thomas, a student at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine.  “It means so much to me to have the support of Oxbow as I go forward.”
